Admission Procedures for the Academic Year 2021-2022

Pharos University announces the opening of applications for the academic year 2021-2022

Important enrollment notes for the academic year 2021/2022

  • Paying for the application form online does not mean enrolling in the university. The student will be listed in admission according to the dates set by the Ministry of Higher Education.
  • All the required documents should be uploaded on the website in PDF.
  • The student should obtain his/her certificate, so the grades total could be calculated in order to apply on the website.
  • Upload personal passport-size photo (6*4).
  • There should be more than one telephone number for each student to communicate easily with the student. The students’ names should be clear in their email addresses which are the most important means of communication and should be checked daily.
  • Secondary School Certificates from KSA: the certificate of the aptitude test and school certificate should be uploaded in PDF.
  • American Diploma: the certificates of grade (10-11-12), SAT1 and SAT2, primary and preparatory should be uploaded as well as the Username and Password of student’s online account in College Board website (for SAT scores).
  • G.C.S.E: all the student’s trials should be uploaded in PDF as well as primary and preparatory certificates.
  • Other foreign secondary schools certificates: the school certificate and primary and preparatory certificates should be uploaded.
For registration and enrollment at Pharos University and the Ministry of Higher Education, applicants should follow the procedures below in order:
  1. Visiting the official website of Pharos University on the following link: https://www.pua.edu.eg/
  2.  Clicking on APPLY NOW as indicated in the picture and fill out the form with the needed information.

3. To fill the application, registration fees have to be paid online as is indicated below.

4. The applicant will receive a receipt confirming the online-payment process like what follows.

5. The applicant will receive a number confirming the registration process on his/her e-mail.

6. The applicant should print this message and submit the printout along with all needed documents to the concerned employee in the Office of Admissions and Registration on the ground floor in the Food Court building. The applicant then will receive a formal letter proving the submission of these documents.

7. The applicant should head for the tuition fees collection office in front of the faculty of Engineering to submit the formal letter and obtain the payment order, with which tuition fees are to be paid.

8. After obtaining the payment order, the applicant should head to the CIB branch in campus to pay tuition fees for the first semester.

9. The applicant will receive an email with the date of his/her interview.

10. After the interview, the student’s English level will be determined.

11. After the interview and receiving the temporary ID, the student should head to the campus clinic in the Humanities and Social Studies building (the faculty of Financial and Administrative Sciences) to obtain the medical examination report marked with a seal of approval after the applicant submits an analysis report of Hepatitis C virus (HCV).

12. The student should visit the university’s website pua.edu.eg to know the admission results after the end of admission phase according to the instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education.

Requirements And Credentials

Pharos University accepts students holding the Egyptian HSC (ThanaweyaAmma) or any equivalent certificates accredited by the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities, including the following:

  1. American High School Diploma.
  2. ThanaweyaAmma.
  3. British secondary ( IGCSE/GCSE/GCE ).
  4. French Baccalaureate.
  5. German Abitur.
  6. International Baccalaureate.
  7. Other certificates accredited by the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities.

Necessary documents, stamps and certificates required for admission

 

  • Filling application form
  • Original Birth Certificate
  • Thanaweya Amma Original certificate OR equivalent
  • National ID –for the student & the parent (copy) [Only for Egyptian Students]
  • Passport (copy) [Only for Non-Egyptian Students]
  • 6 passport size photos (6 *4)
  • Military Service Form (Namouzag 2 Gond), for Egyptian male students only.

*In the absence of the parents, a power of attorney approved by PUA’s Legal Affairs is required for admission.

**According to Paragraph 14 in the Chapter of General Remarks on the Admission Regulations at the Egyptian Private Universities Admission Guidebook (2016-2017), Thanaweya Amma certificates of applicants who are not holders of the nationality of the country from which they received it, WIIL NOT BE ACCEPTABLE, even if they are issued by one of the schools of this country embassy.

EGYPTIAN SECONDARY SCHOOL CERTIFICATES OR ITS EQUIVALENTS

 A) General secondary school certificate (Thanaweya Aama):

  1. Required Documents
    Thanaweya Amma Original certificate OR stamped statement of the student’s marks + original birth certificate.
  2. Academic credentials
    Abiding by the enrollment terms of minimum grades for the same year of admission

    Original Azhar certificate OR a stamped statement of the student’s marks + original birth certificate
    (In case of Make-Ups certificate due to absence, the student should present a stamped document).

C) Technical secondary schools certificates :

  1. Required Documents
    Original stamped certificate + original birth certificate.
  2. Academic credentials
    Abiding by the enrollment terms of minimum grades for the same year of admission
  3. Qualifying Subjects
    1.  Tourism (3 years) may apply only to the faculty of Tourism & Hotel Management.
    2. Commerce (3 or 5 years) or Commercial Technical Institute may apply only to the faculty of Financial & Administrative Sciences.
    3. Industrial (5 years) or Industrial Technical Institute may apply only to the faculty of Engineering.
    4. Health Technical Institute may apply only to the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences.

Tuition fees in pharos university

The tuition fees are announced each year through the University’s Office of Admissions and Registration.

As for freshmen, the first semester the fees must be paid at once, right after filling out the enrollment application. However, the fees for the following semesters will be determined and paid according to the registered credit hours, with a grace period of two weeks from the commencement of the study, and must be paid in any of the CIB branches.

 

Refunding Deposits and Fees

After submitting the admission application, the student is eligible to withdraw and claim a refund of the paid fees, in accordance with the date of the issuance of the refund application as well as the rules and regulations in force.

  • As for the new students, they should follow the dates to be set by the Office of Admissions and Registration.
  • The student and his/her guardian shall go to Finance Department (the Administration Building) to receive the cheque after 21 working days from presenting the refund application.
  • No more than one refund application is issued for the student, otherwise he/she will be subject to legal liability if it is proved that more than one refund application is issued.

Scholarships And Tuition Waivers

For enrolled students :

The scholarships granted by Pharos University are commensurate with the actual number of students in each faculty, with a rate of one scholarship to every one hundred students and a maximum of three students each year, conditionally obtaining at least a GPA of 3.5

  • First place student gets a 25% discount of his/ her tuition fees.
  • Second place student gets a 15 % discount of his/ her tuition fees.
  • Third place student gets a 10% discount of his/ her tuition fees.

For high school graduates (new entrants) :

Pharos University offers tuition waivers for Alexandria’s top Thanaweya Amma graduates in the three sections; Science, Mathematics, and Arts. The university also offers a 50% discount for those students throughout their academic years, on condition of maintaining a GPA no less than 3.5 each year.
IGCSE top graduate in Alexandria is granted a scholarship and a discount of 50% of his/her tuition fees, on condition of maintaining a GPA of 3.5 throughout his/ her academic years at PUA.

  • No student can get more than one scholarship at a time.
  • Transferred students are incapable of receiving a scholarship unless he/she is done with his/her studies.
  • If a student does not complete his/her credit hours in a given semester, then he/she does not get promoted to the following semester even if he/she has a higher GPA than other students in the same semester. Once the student successfully completes his/her credit hours, he/she becomes considered within the tuition waiver policies.
